Equipping Chambers of Commerce to Engage in Registered Apprenticeship

The Center of Excellence's subject matter experts Alan Dodkowitz, Nicole Bentley, and Jeremy Faulkner, alongside Amy Shields, the Executive Director of the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) Foundation and VP of Programs at ACCE, discussed how chambers can play one or more primary roles in Registered Apprenticeship. Participants also heard findings from a collaborative knowledge assessment given to member chambers and guidance on how chambers can serve as effective conveners of member employers.

ACTE CareerTECH Vision 2024

ACTE's CareerTech VISION was an event for career and technical education (CTE) professionals. VISION offered comprehensive programming covering high-quality CTE in secondary and postsecondary environments and emerging trends in the field to help career and technical educators thrive in their careers. VISION provided attendees with a rich array of networking opportunities, an Expo, hundreds of concurrent program sessions, and numerous networking opportunities.

Center subject matter experts presented the workshop, "Help is Here! Federal Resources to Create Industry-Aligned Pre-Apprenticeship Programs."

Apprenticeship PA Collaborative and Expo

2024 ApprenticeshipPA brought together industry, education, workforce, and stakeholders across Pennsylvania that wanted to strengthen apprenticeship employment and work-based models of training and development.

Center subject matter experts presented the workshop, "Building Student Awareness of Apprenticeship Career Pathways." This workshop provided insights into how education can seamlessly transition into apprenticeship. Data and statistics were shown highlighting the impact and success rates of Registered Apprenticeship (RA) programs, exploring the many benefits of combining traditional education with RA, such as enhanced skills acquisition, job readiness, and long-term career success.

NAWDP Youth Symposium

NAWDP Youth Symposium

NAWDP's Youth Symposium has become one of the largest annual gatherings of workforce development professionals serving youth, with more than 900 attendees from across the country. Participants joined in celebrating "25 Years of Advancing America's Youth" at this impactful event. Participants networked with workforce professionals who serve youth across the country, shared or learned from others' best practices, created partnerships with other organizations, and learned about innovative programs and potential solutions to issues in their areas. 

Center staff presented a session on RA and WIOA alignment. They also ran a booth where they provided no-cost TA!
